The default management mode on a management switch is access mode.
Access Mode
Access mode allows the switch to connect to single hosts such as servers, computers, and printers. When the switch operates in access mode, the device can operate only using a single VLAN and the switch receives untagged frames without VLAN data from the host device.
You can use access mode if VLANs are not configured on the switch.

Trunk Mode
Trunk mode is accessible in a VLAN-configured environment and is designed for connecting devices using tagged VLANs (e.g., VLAN-enabled switches and NICs). Ports using trunk mode can be linked between various network devices and are capable of carrying traffic across multiple VLANs.
