How can I expand the Storage Pool/Static Volume by replacing the disks with larger capacity drives?

Procedure

Important
  • This process is only supported on the following RAID types: RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 6, RAID 10.
  • Always verify that drives and other devices are compatible with your NAS before purchase.
  • After replacing drives, the NAS storage capacity is based on the smallest drive in the RAID.
  • Your data remains accessible while expanding a Storage Pool or Static Volume.
  1. Go to Storage Manager > Storage > Storage Space.
  2. Double click a storage pool.
    The Storage Pool Management window opens.
  3. Select a RAID group.
  4. Click Manage > Replace Disks One by One.
  5. Select one or more disks.
  6. Replace the physical drives.
    1. Wait until the disk description changes to Please remove this drive, then remove the drive from the NAS or expansion enclosure.
    2. Wait until the disk description changes to You can replace this drive, then insert the new drive into the drive slot.
    3. Wait for RAID rebuilding to complete.
    4. Repeat this process for all drives being replaced.
  7. Click Expand Capacity.
    A confirmation window opens.
  8. Click Yes.

The system expands the specified RAID group.
