SFR NAS backup is a cloud backup app for backing up your NAS data to SFR. SFR NAS backup also provides a variety of useful settings (such as connection parameters and backup/restore policies) to make the transfer process efficient and effective.

Preparation for using SFR NAS Backup account

Installation on QNAP NAS
To install SFR NAS backup on your NAS, sign into the QTS web interface as an administrator. Then go to “App Center” > “Backup/Sync” > “SFR” and then click “Add to QTS +”.
Launch SFR NAS backup
Click “SFR” on the desktop and open “SFR NAS backup”.
Create SFR Account
1. Click “Account” > “Create Account” for backup and restore jobs.
2. Please give a display name to your SFR account and enter the “Access key” and “Secret key”.
Create SFR Backup Job
1. Click “Backup” > “Create Job” to create a new backup job.
2. Choose the backup folders. One or more source folders can be selected for backup.
3. Configure your backup schedule. You can select “Start manually”, “Periodically”, “Start once at” and “After this job finishes”.
4. Configure the backup policy. Please click here to get more information about policy settings.
5. Configure the backup filters. A variety of filtering options can help you to only back up important data to speed up the backup job duration, reduce the bandwidth usage and to minimize cloud storage expenses.
6. Configure the cloud storage. You can specify the “Bucket name” and also fill in the “Folder name”. The multipart size defines the size of data unit to be transferred. Using larger multipart sizes can improve data transfer speeds, as fewer number of network connections are required for transferring a file.
7. Configure the job name and set up some connection parameters. The default job name: “Account display name -> Bucket/ Folder name”.
8. Confirm the backup job settings. Click “Next” to complete the settings.
9. After creating a backup job. You can carry out some actions for the job including start/stop, edit, view logs and delete.
Create SFR Restore Job
1. Click “Restore” > “Create Job” to create a restore job
2. Select the source from the existing backup job or from the SFR NAS Backup. If you restore from a backup job, you will be allowed to select which folder to restore.
3. Select a destination on your local NAS. You can decide either to restore to the original folders or to give a new destination folder.
4. Configure the restore settings. You can set up some connection parameters and filter the restore files to make the transfer process more efficient.
5. Enter a name for the restore job. The default job name: “Destination <- Account display name -> Bucket/ Folder name”.
6. Confirm the restore job settings. Click “Next” to complete the settings.
7. After creating a restore job. You can carry out some actions for the job including start/stop, edit, view logs and delete.
