After using the Domain Controller on my QNAP NAS, the system automatically created two shared folders called “sysvol” and “netlogon”. However, I cannot access the files in these folders via SMB on my Windows 10 devices. How can I access these folders?

Answer:

This is a known issue in Windows 10. Please follow these steps :

  1. Right click on “Command Prompt” and choose “Run as administrator”.
  2. Enter the following commands:
    1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindowsNetworkProviderHardenedPaths /v "\*SYSVOL" /d "RequireMutualAuthentication=0" /t REG_SZ
    2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindowsNetworkProviderHardenedPaths /v "\*NETLOGON" /d "RequireMutualAuthentication=0" /t REG_SZ

Now you can access these two folders via SMB on your Windows 10 devices.
