Critical workflow for all photographers to backup and share content in one centralized workstation
Photoshoots sometimes last a few days and SD cards ends up with thousands of raw images on hand.
Upload raw files from external hard drives to the TVS-871T via USB one-touch-copy.
Import all photos from laptop/external drives onto the NAS. Start editing imported images and creating projects.
Backup final edits onto the QNAP and simultaneously have the QNAP back up to cloud services or another external drive.
Share files via dedicated share links to clients, customers, co-workers and friends.
Network Attached Storage is a central storage system consisting of multiple hard drives, continuously connected to the network. The Gb network also provides decent transfer speed, and unlike a DAS, it gives you access across different platforms.
QNAP NAS supports RAID configurations including RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10 and global hot spares. Our RAID technology is not proprietary based on Linux. So you don't have to worry about having to pay for recovering your data from the NAS vendors.
Yes, our NAS systems are powerful enough to let you edit over the network. However, we always recommend users to save an additional copy on the local workstation in case anything happens between the connection between the NAS and the workstation.
Since NAS is network-based, it does not allow data to be transferred directly through a USB from the desktop/workstation. Users would need to use Qfinder to find the NAS, then find Ethernet IP for file sharing based on their needs.
Yes, the TVS-871T Thunderbolt NAS supports Direct-attached Storage (DAS) that allows you to directly access files on the TVS-871T on a file-based level. Simple attach your Mac computer to the TVS-871T with the Thunderbolt 2 cable, and you will find the TVS-871T in Finder with accessible shared folders available for you. This makes it the ideal workflow to enjoy Thunderbolt transfer speeds, and also the ability to share and access files across platform and over the network.
We always recommend users to purchase hard drives that are dedicated for NAS-use, such as the WD Red drives, Seagate NAS drives, but drives that are higher performance than the NAS drives are also suitable. We do not recommend desktop drives or surveillance drives due to their different spin rates, which might corrupt the RAID configuration of the NAS. Please check the compatibility list here before purchasing your drives.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the QNAP NAS only supports the same capacity drives throughout its configuration, so be sure to purchase the same capacity drives while setting up the RAID.
Yes, currently the TVS-x71 series supports full 4K video playback and 4K display. Simply shoot in your 4K cameras, and store them on the QNAP and view by plugging in the 4K monitor directly to the NAS' HDMI port.
