FAQ

1
How do Mac computers connect to Thunderbolt NAS via Thunderbolt?
  • Thunderbolt NAS requires a USB-C Thunderbolt port. These ports are common in recent Mac computers.
2
Can I use a Thunderbolt 4/ Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter?
  • Yes.
  • The Apple Thunderbolt 4/ Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter supports bi-directional connections. However, it may be incompatible with some Windows PCs.
3
Can I chain my computer to Thunderbolt NAS and build a Thunderbolt DAS?
  • No, it is not a typical Thunderbolt DAS (Direct Attached Storage). It is rather a Direct Access Storage or Thunderbolt Share Access.
  • You can directly connect a Mac with the Thunderbolt NAS but IP configuration is required. Qfinder Pro can be used to assign an IP address.
4
Does Thunderbolt NAS provide 10GbE connectivity?
  • Yes.
  • Some Thunderbolt NAS have built-in 10GbE ports, while others can attain 10GbE by installing a PCIe 10GbE expansion card. An adapter (e.g. QNA adapter) is required to connect a Mac to 10GbE networks.
5
Can four people simultaneously use a Thunderbolt NAS?
  • Yes. Thunderbolt NAS provides multiple Thunderbolt ports, 10GbE or 2.5GbE network ports, allowing you to build a storage base for multiple users.
