What are the different ways to connect the NAS remotely other than myQNAPcloud Link?

By using FQDN service/public IP address, this is a universal way to remote access a device and a lot of services can be applied, not just for QNAP NAS, such as PLEX and so on. And it's faster than using myQNAPcloud Link, especially if you often streaming video, music, high resolution pictures remotely. Using this FQDN service, you will need to forward your NAS services ports to your public IP address.

Note: Setting up port forwarding, your NAS will then expose to the internet and it's easily to get attacked. I would suggest to use the VPN service provided by a router (if possible) to access any device in your LAN remotely over VPN. For more information about how to set up VPN service in router, you can contact your router's support service for help.

If your router doesn’t support VPN service, alternatively, you can just forward QVPN’s service port to your public IP address instead of the system port. For more information about how to set up QVPN service, please refer to the link below.

For your information, a port forward is a way of making a computer on your home or business network accessible to computers on the internet, even though they are behind a router. And the most important thing is your router has to have a public IP address whether it's a fixed IP or dynamic one. Usually you have to pay ISP extra for using a Public IP address; please make sure it's offered by your ISP. You can then set up port forwarding on your router afterwards.

Also, since there are many router manufacturers all around the word, different companies and different models will have different management pages in their router. So it's almost impossible for us to know each of them. The link that I provided you in above has detailed instruction for each of these steps customized for every router. If you are still having issue understanding how, please kindly contact your router manufacturers for help: telling them that you have a devices( please let them know the NAS LAN IP) using port UDP port 443(QVPN using UDP 443 as default service port, but I would suggest to change to non-default ports, such as 27015, see picture below, for better securing your NAS), and you want to forward this port to your router for remote access the service.

If you still prefer to forward your NAS system port to a public IP address instead of using QVPN or other VPN services, please kindly contact your router manufacturers for help: *telling them that you have a devices( please let them know the NAS LAN IP) using port TDP port 8080/443( using UDP 8080/443 as default system port, but I would suggest to change to non-default ports, such as 27015, see picture below, for better securing your NAS), and you want to forward this port to your router for remote access the service.
