How can I remove the default shared folders on my NAS?

Analysis

Default shared folders are automatically created after system initialization. Follow the procedures below to remove all default shared folders except the"Public" shared folder, which is required for system running.


Procedure

After logging in to QTS as an administrator, follow the steps below to remove "Multimedia", "Download", "Web", and "Home" shared folders.

To remove "Multimedia" and "Download" shared folders:
  1. Open Control Panel and check the firmware version
  2. If the firmware version is 5.0.0 or later:
    1. Open App Center.
    2. Go to QNAP Store > All Apps.
    3. Find Multimedia Console, click the downward arrow and select Remove.

  3. If the firmware version is between 4.4.x or 4.5.x:
    1. Go to Control Panel > Application > Multimedia Console.
    2. Toggle the button on the top right corner to disable Multimedia Services.

To remove "Web" shared folders:
  1. Go to Control Panel > Applications > Web Server > Web Server.
  2. Deselect Enable Web Server, and click Apply.

  3. Go to Control Panel > Privilege > Shared Folders.
  4. Select Web shared folder, and click Remove.
To remove "Home" shared folders:
  1. Go to Control Panel > Privilege > Users > Home Folder.
  2. Deselect Enable home folders for all users, and click Apply.

To remove the shared folders:
  1. Go to Control Panel > Privilege > Shared Folders.
  2. Select the shared folders you want to delete, and click Remove.
