QuTScloud is a virtual operating system based on QTS that can be deployed on third-party platforms. With the powerful applications and services of QTS for storage management, data backup, and file sharing, you can better leverage your resources to enhance productivity and facilitate workflows.
Important:
To use QuTScloud, you need to purchase and activate a QuTScloud license.
System Requirements
QuTScloud requires at least 2 GB of memory to run (4 GB recommended). QNAP recommends allocating sufficient of memory to ensure system stability and performance.
QuTScloud supports a maximum of 25 disks. The first disk may only include the QuTScloud OS image. The other 24 slots may be used for data storage. Only drives larger than 48 GB are recognized and listed as data storage disks in QuTScloud.
To create a storage pool, QuTScloud requires a disk size of at least 144 GB (200 GB recommended).
QuTScloud requires an internet connection to verify licenses.

Activating a QuTScloud License Key
After purchasing a QuTScloud license, you must activate the license key from the QNAP License Manager. You are required to provide a valid license key when installing QuTScloud.
To deploy QuTScloud, you'll need to create a virtual machine using a QuTScloud image file. The actual steps may vary depending on the user interface and the workflow for each platform. For additional details, see the documentation for the specific platform.
Deploying QuTScloud on VMware ESXi
This process is based on VMware ESXi version 7.0.0. The steps may vary slightly if you are using a different version.
Tip:

Navigate to the directory where the image file was uploaded.
Create the QuTScloud virtual machine.
Important:
You'll need to adjust some parameters based on your specific situation.
User Input
Description
qm create 301 --bootdisk virtio0
qm importdisk 301 IMG STORAGE
qm set 301 -virtio0 STORAGE:vm-301-disk-0,cache=writeback
Creates the virtual machine and set the ID to 301.
IMG: The name of the QuTScloud image file you uploaded.
STORAGE: The name of the storage pool used to store the image file
qm set 301 -virtio1 STORAGE:AMOUNT,cache=writeback
Adds a blank disk.
STORAGE: The name of the storage pool used to store the image file
AMOUNT: The size of the disk
Important:
QNAP recommends using at least 200 GB of storage.
qm set 301 -net0 virtio,bridge=vmbr0 -memory 2048 -name QuTScloud
Adds a network interface, configures the RAM size, and sets the display name to QuTScloud.
Important:
QuTScloud requires at least 2 GB of memory to run (4 GB recommended). QNAP recommends allocating sufficient of memory to ensure system stability and performance.
qm set 301 --agent 1
Enables the Proxmox QEMU agent to communicate with QuTScloud.
Important:
This step is required to display the IP address after deployment.
Start the VM.
Log in to your Proxmox web control panel.
Under Datacenter, identify the VM.
In the main area, click Start.
Proxmox starts the QuTScloud instance.
Optional:Identify the MAC address.
Ensure the VM has finished starting.
Select the QuTScloud VM.
In the Summary section, identify the IP address.
Note:
You must enable the QEMU agent before the IP address is displayed in this section. Alternatively, you can check the IP directly from the console output.
Go to the Hardware section.
Under Network Device, identify the MAC address.
Copy the IP address to access QuTScloud via your web browser.
Deploying QuTScloud on KVM
This process will use the GUI virt-manager based method to import QuTScloud. Make sure the package is installed and executed with root permissions before starting.
QuTScloud requires at least 2 GB of memory to run (4 GB recommended). QNAP recommends allocating sufficient of memory to ensure system stability and performance.
Configure the VM name.
Enter a name.
Select Customize configuration before install.
Click Finish.
Configure the storage space.
Click Add Hardware.
The Add New Virtual Hardware window opens.
Go to Storage.
Specify a disk size.
Important:
QNAP recommends using at least 200 GB of storage.
Click Finish.
Click Begin Installation.
KVM starts the QuTScloud instance.
Optional:Identify the MAC address.
Ensure the VM has finished starting.
Select the QuTScloud VM.
Click Show virtual hardware details.
The details window opens.
Go to the NIC section.
Note:
This section will differ beased on your specific setup.
Identify the MAC address.
Note:
You can not identify the IP address from the virt-manager interface. Check the IP directly from the console output.
Copy the IP address to access QuTScloud via your web browser.
Important:
By default, KVM configures the guest network as NAT and only allows access from the host machine. Change the network to Bridged to allow external access. For details, see here.
