Is it possible to use a non-dual-controller expansion unit with dual-controller QES models?
Non-dual-controller expansion units are not designed for QES dual-controller NAS systems.
They may be able to be recognized by QES but it does not guarantee compatibility.
The dual-controller NAS model must use the specified SAS expansion unit.
Refer to the Storage Expansion Compatibility page for more information.
Does QES support Forward Error Correction (FEC)?
FEC is not supported by QES. You must use a network switch which does not require FEC to ensure stable connectivity.
What is the maximum length of a pool name in QES?
Pool names can be up to 31 characters.
What is the maximum number of pools in QES?
The maximum number of pools is 128.
What is the maximum number of shares in QES?
The maximum number of shares is 1024.
What is the maximum pool size in QES?
The maximum pool size is 1024PB (1 EB).
Can I initialize QES with only one controller?
No. The system will check the status of the other controller during initialization. If the other controller is faulty, please contact QNAP support for an RMA.
Can I create a pool using SATA drives (installed on a QDA-SA adapter) and SAS drives in an ES NAS?
Yes, but it is not recommended.
For optimal performance and reliability, build one pool using SATA drives and another pool using SAS drives.
