Hybrid Backup Sync
Multi-cloud backup, data deduplication, instant restoration and flexible synchronization
Hybrid Backup Sync consolidates backup, restoration and synchronization functions into a single QTS/QuTS hero app for you to easily transfer your data to local, remote and cloud storage spaces as a comprehensive data storage and disaster recovery plan. With QuDedup technology that deduplicates the data at the source, the efficiency of multi-version backup to the destination storage is greatly improved while also optimizing storage utilization.
Build your 3-2-1 backup strategy and recovery plan
No backup plan is perfect, but 3-2-1 Backup is a good start. Keep 3 copies of important files, keep the files on at least 2 types of storage media, and store 1 copy off-site.
-
Hybrid Backup Sync helps you back up data from a QNAP NAS to several local, remote and cloud storage spaces. Multi-version backup allows you to easily track changes.
-
If data loss occurs, you can restore files from a local/remote NAS or cloud storage. This provides a comprehensive disaster recovery plan to immediately restore important files.
-
Your files can be one-way synced with the local NAS, external devices, cloud services or remote server using RTRR, Rsync, FTP, CIFS/SMB. Two-way sync can also be used for files between your QNAP NAS and a remote NAS/cloud services.
QuDedup greatly reduces backup and recovery time
Hybrid Backup Sync features QuDedup technology to deduplicate backup data at the source. With the overall data size reduced, required bandwidth and backup time is also saved. With QuDedup, you can reduce the RPO (Recovery Point Objective) and RTO (Recovery Time Objective) for your backup plan. When tested with a virtualization solution, QuDedup reduced the backup size by 75%.
Note: Currently, QuDedup only supports QNAP NAS models with x86-based Intel or AMD processors.

Directly view deduped data on computers using the QuDedup Extract Tool
QuDedup supports block-level deduplication and data encryption on client devices. Deduplicated data is packaged and converted to .qdff files. Instead of viewing the deduplicated .qdff file using the NAS, you can install the QuDedup Extract Tool on your computer (Windows, Ubuntu, or macOS) and restore deduplicated files to their normal status.

Secure your business data by encrypting files before backup
When creating tasks in Hybrid Backup Sync, you can encrypt and compress files before backing up or synchronizing them. This effectively prevents unauthorized access and provides an extra layer of protection for personal and business files/data.
Cross-device access from NAS, computers and the cloud
After backing up deduped, encrypted or compressed data to a QNAP NAS, remote server or cloud storage, you can use the QuDedup Extract Tool or QENC Decrypter utility to restore and view them on your computer.
-
Restore .qdff file with QuDedup Extract Tool
Use the QuDedup Extract Tool to restore .qdff files and directly view them on your computer. You can also install the QuDedup Extract Tool on your cloud storage to view your backed-up and deduped files - greatly reducing the cloud data transfer cost. Deduped files can also be viewed and opened in File Station.

Decrypt and decompress files with QENC Decrypter
Files that are encrypted/compressed using Hybrid Backup Sync can be decrypted/decompressed by installing the QENC Decrypter utility on your computer. You can also install QENC Decrypter on your cloud workstation to directly view the file content.

Automated cross-NAS backup jobs
From version 14, Hybrid Backup Sync supports automated cross-NAS backup jobs. When the local NAS starts a backup job, a remote NAS automatically starts secondary backup, sync, or restore jobs. All you need is to set the backup process on each NAS, then multiple NAS can automatically complete all job flows. Whether migrating big data or backing up to multiple destinations (such as USB storage or cloud storage), IT staff can streamline the entire backup workflow according to their requirements.

Backup to Multiple Destinations
Back up multiple versions even faster
Hybrid Backup Sync supports multiple version backup to cloud storage and remote NAS and allows you to set the number of backup versions to retain and their retention time. The more versions you back up reduces the risk of data loss.
Cloud seeding made simple
For first-time cloud migration, hardware appliances from cloud service providers can be used to quickly move terabytes of data, rather than transferring via the bandwidth-limited Internet. Hybrid Backup Sync provides the relink function which can establish a link between the on-premises original and the cloud copy, so you can continue incremental backup or synchronization tasks. This greatly boosts efficiency and makes migration to the cloud much easier.
Expedited cloud backup with TCP BBR supported
Hybrid Backup Sync supports the TCP BBR algorithm for congestion control that can greatly improves extranet data transfer speed. Businesses that use hybrid storage solutions can back up or sync their NAS-based files to the cloud with higher transfer speed, making offsite backup more efficient.
Note: The TCP BBR feature is available from QTS 4.4.1.
User-friendly interface for streamlined workflows
Hybrid Backup Sync provides an easy-to-use interface for you to easily view the status of jobs and schedules. You can easily set up backup/restore and sync jobs, and manage storage spaces.
Check all Job History
In Hybrid Backup Sync version 14, you can view the summary of a backup job to check the backup job status or which files are being transferred at that point. After the jobs finish, you can check the result details in Jobs Status. In addition, each file has its own transfer record, allowing you to troubleshoot potential issues.
Supports major cloud storage services
Hybrid Backup Sync provides a secure-yet-flexible hybrid cloud backup solution, allowing you to leverage private and public clouds to create a cost-efficient IT environment. In the event of an unexpected error, you can easily restore data from backed-up files on the cloud.
Create a backup job in 4 easy steps
You can back up files from local folders to local, remote, or other storage spaces in only four easy steps. Select a source location, assign a backup destination, set a schedule, and click "Apply". The whole process can be finished in one window without any complicated settings.

Smart and efficient management
-
Smart data reduction
Filter files by type, size or date to ensure only selected files are retained in the NAS or on the cloud. Hybrid Backup Sync supports data deduplication for higher storage usage efficiency.
-
Faster data transfer
There are flexible settings for concurrent file processing and multi-thread data transfer by splitting large files into smaller parts, greatly increasing the file transfer rate for greater work efficiency.
-
Upgraded encryption
Hybrid Backup Sync supports client-side encryption, SSL connectivity and Amazon S3 server-side encryption, ensuring your data stays protected during file transfer and when stored on public cloud storage.
Sync files to other user devices with Qsync
While Hybrid Backup Sync performs backup/sync from a QNAP NAS to another NAS/server or the cloud, you should use Qsync - our critically-acclaimed Dropbox-like file sync app - to sync files between a QNAP NAS and user devices (such as desktops, laptops, and mobiles). With centralized management, one- and two-way sync, remote erase, team folders, Space-Saving Mode, and other future-proof functionality, Qsync ensures that your data is quickly and safely synchronized to all your devices and the devices of your team members.
