How to manage my live channel and watch live programs on DJ2 Live?

DJ2 Live is a live streaming platform on the QNAP NAS. After streaming your videos to DJ2 Live via RTMP (real-time messaging protocol), you can broadcast live programs from the NAS or stream videos to YouTube, Facebook Live, or any other streaming platforms that support RTMP to reach a wider audience. With the storage allocation and access control features of the QNAP NAS, you can easily customize your live streaming to meet different needs.

This tutorial shows how to manage live channels and watch live programs on DJ2 Live.

Managing your own video categories

Using video categories can help you easily classify, manage, and find your videos.

  1. Open DJ2 Console.
  2. Move the cursor over “Broadcast History”.
  3. Click next to “Broadcast History”.
  4. Add categories.
    1. Click “Add”.
    2. Specify a name for the new category.
    3. Click “OK”.
  5. Delete categories (optional).
    1. Select the categories that you want to remove from the list.
    2. Click “Delete”.
    3. Click “OK”.
  6. Click “Close”.

Configuring live streaming settings

  1. Open DJ2 Console.
  2. Click on the top-right corner.
  3. Go to “Settings” > “Broadcast settings”.
  4. Configure the following settings:
    1. Title: Specify a name for your live program.
    2. Access permission: Specify the access permission for your program.
      1. Public: Anyone with the link can watch the program.
      2. Private: Only authenticated users can watch the program.
        • NAS account: Share your videos only to certain NAS users
        • Google account: After signing in to your Google account, you can search for other Google users and share your videos with them. DJ2 uses Google OAuth for authentication.
        After configuring access permissions, you can share the share links for your videos with other users.
    3. Category: Select the category for your live program.
    4. Allow viewers to chat: Viewers can chat during the session if this option is enabled.
    5. Save my broadcast: Live videos will be saved on the NAS after broadcast sessions finish if this option is enabled.
    6. Live streaming service: You can stream videos to other live streaming platforms simultaneously if this option is enabled.
  5. Click “Apply”.

Managing videos in Broadcast History

If you enable “Save my broadcast”, live videos will be saved on the NAS after live broadcast sessions finish. You can manage these videos in Broadcast History.

  1. Open DJ2 Console.
  2. Select a video category under Broadcast History.
  3. Select a video.
  4. Click the bottom-right corner of the video.
  5. Select one of the following options:
    1. Play: Play the video with the media player.
    2. Share: Get the share link for the video.
    3. Download: Download the video to your local device.
    4. Remove: Remove this video from Broadcast History.
    5. Information: View the information of the video. You can also change its category.

Creating a program announcement

You can add announcements to the program list to provide viewers with the information about upcoming programs.

  1. Open DJ2 Console.
  2. Click on the top-right corner.
  3. Configure the following settings of the program:
    1. Title: Specify a name for the program.
    2. Access permission: Specify the access permission for your program.
      1. Public: Anyone with the link can watch the program.
      2. Private: Only authenticated users can watch the program.
        • NAS account: Share your videos only to certain NAS users
        • Google account: After signing in to your Google account, you can search for other users on Google and share your videos with them. DJ2 uses Google OAuth for authentication.

          After configuring access permissions, you can share the share links for your videos with other users.
      3. Start Time: Specify the start time of the program.
      4. Image: Move the cursor over the image and click “Edit” to upload an image.
  4. Click “OK”.

When viewers log in to DJ2 Live, they can see the upcoming programs to which they are granted access permissions.

Watching live programs on DJ2 Live

With share links, viewers can connect to DJ2 Live to watch live programs using the following three methods:

  • Guest Login: Guests can only watch live programs that are set as “public”.
  • Log in with NAS account: Some private programs can only be watched by certain NAS users to whom the broadcaster grants access permissions.
  • Login with Google account: Some private streaming can only be watched by certain Google user.

After logging to DJ2 Live, viewers can chat with the broadcaster, view the list of upcoming programs, and use various control icons on the media player to watch live videos.
