How can I configure NAS shared folder permissions in Windows?

Procedure

  1. Configure the Shared Folder settings.
    1. Go to Control Panel > Privilege > Shared Folders > Advanced permissions.
    2. Select Advanced Folder Permissions.
    3. Select Enable Windows ACL Support.
    4. Click Apply.
  2. Enable Microsoft Networking settings.
    1. Go to Control Panel > Network & File Services > Win/Mac/NFS/WebDAV > Microsoft Networking
    2. Select Enable file service for Microsoft networking.
    3. Click Apply.
  3. Map the NAS shared folder to the device.
    1. On the Windows device, open File Explorer.
    2. In the left panel, click This PC.
    3. In the top panel, click Map network drive > Map network drive.
      The Map Network Drive window opens.
    4. Select a drive letter to assign to the Shared Folder.
    5. Enter the address of the shared folder.
      Follow the format \\{NAS_IP_Address}\{Shared_Folder_Name}
    6. Select Reconnect at sign-in.
    7. Select Connect using different credentials.
    8. Click Finish.

      An authentication window opens.
    9. Enter the user credentials to access the NAS.
  4. Configure subfolder permissions.
    1. On the Windows device, identify a subfolder within the NAS shared folder.
    2. Right-click the subfolder and select Properties.
      The properties window opens.
    3. Go to the Security tab and click Edit.
      The permissions window opens.
    4. Select a user in the Group or user names section.
    5. Specify permissions to allow or deny in the permissions section.
    6. Click OK.
      The permissions window closes.
    7. Click OK.
      The properties window closes.
