How can I switch my NAS from QuTS hero to QTS?

Procedure

Important

This may cause irrecoverable loss of your data. Make sure to back up all data before you begin this process.

Prepare the NAS hardware.
1. Power off the NAS.
2. Remove all storage devices including any M.2 SSD or devices stored in the front and rear disk slots.
3. Ensure the NAS can connect to the internet.
4. Restart the NAS.
Sign in to the NAS.
The QuTS hero Smart Installation screen appears.
Click QTS under the Switch OS heading.

The system downloads the QTS installer. After the process completes, the device restarts.
Prepare the NAS hardware.
1. Power off the NAS.
2. Install all the storage devices you removed earlier.
3. Ensure the NAS can connect to the internet.
4. Restart the NAS.
Sign in to the NAS.
The QTS Smart Installation screen appears.
Click Start Smart Installation.
