Why did the date of creation change to the last modified date when a photo or music file metadata was changed?

Last modified date: 2020-07-09

Linux does not record the date of creation. The operating system only records the last modified date. When the metadata or content of a photo of a music file changes, the changed timestamp (ctime) gets modified accordingly.
