When I chain my Mac and QNAP NAS together with a Thunderbolt DAS, why is my Mac unable to detect the DAS whenever I restart the Mac or reconnect it to the DAS?

Applied Models:

Answer:

As a Thunderbolt NAS can also serve as a host for JBOD (external storage), it will gain dominance over the DAS if they are still connected when the Mac loses its connection with the DAS.

We recommend removing and then reconnecting the Thunderbolt cable between the DAS and NAS after reconnecting your Mac to the Thunderbolt chain. This will ensure that the Mac regains its dominance over the DAS and detects the device.
