My Mac running macOS Sierra 10.12.4 sometimes cannot locate or connect to my NAS using Thunderbolt. Why does this occur and how do I fix this?
  • Thunderbolt 2 NAS Series
  • Thunderbolt 3 NAS Series

Why:

macOS Sierra 10.12.4 introduced a routing issue that caused problems with Thunderbolt connections when WiFi or Ethernet is also used.

Solution:

Download and install Qfinder Pro to connect your Mac to your NAS using Thunderbolt.

You can also enter the following command in Terminal on your Mac to temporarily change your network settings:
>>ping –b bridge0

The Thunderbolt IP address can be found on your NAS LED panel.
