How to find the QPKG file name of an installed package on QNAP NAS?

Last modified date: 2026-07-07

Applicable Products

  • All QNAP NAS models running QTS or QuTS hero

Scenario

App Center shows user-friendly display names (for example "Virtualization Station"), but when managing packages via SSH or CLI, you need the internal QPKG name (for example QKVM). The display name and the QPKG file name are often completely different, which makes it hard to find the right init script or package directory without a reference.

Solution

All installed packages are registered in /etc/config/qpkg.conf. You can query this file to map any display name to its corresponding QPKG name, or to enumerate all installed packages at once.

Step 1: SSH into the NAS

Connect via SSH:

ssh admin@<NAS_IP>

Screenshot needed: SSH terminal connected and showing shell prompt.

Step 2: List all display names and their QPKG file names

Run the following command:

cat /etc/config/qpkg.conf | grep -E "Display_Name|QPKG_File"

The output pairs each display name with its corresponding QPKG file:
e.g.:

QPKG_File = LicenseCenter.qpkg

QPKG_File = NotificationCenter.qpkg
