How do I deal with the message "The app digital signature has expired"
Applicable Products:
- App Center
- Digital Signature
The message "The app digital signature has expired" means that the mentioned application is old and that its digital signature was expired and requires renewing by updating the application to the latest version.
QNAP uses digital signatures to validate apps created by QNAP or QNAP-trusted publishers. The use of digital signatures prevents the unauthorized tampering of apps that may lead to security risks. If updating to the latest version of the application still indicates that the digital signature is expired, this could indicate the followings:
- The application has reached its end of support, in this case, it is recommended to remove the application if it is not essential for your NAS use.
- The application haven't applied newer digital signature, contact the Application Author to renew its signature.
Do note that even with the digital signature expired, it will not affect the existing services of the applications.
