How can I remove the default shared folders on my NAS?
Applicable Products:
- QTS 4.4.1 or later
Note: This article explains how to remove the shared folder, for information on hiding a shared folder, see here.
Important: You can't remove Public and Web shared folders as they are required for system running.
Follow the procedures below to remove Multimedia, Download and homes shared folders:

Login QTS as administrators.

For removing Multimedia and Download, open Control Panel to check Firmware version

If firmware version is 5.0.0 or later version
- Open App Center
- Find Multimedia Console and select Remove

If firmware version is 4.4.1 or later version
- Find Control Panel > Application > Multimedia Console
- Click the toggle on the top right corner of the app to disable Multimedia Services

If you want to remove homes shared folder,
- Go to Control Panel > Privilege > Users
- Click on Home Folder
- Deselect Enable home folders for all users and apply the setting

Remove the shared folders
- Go to Control Panel > Privilege > Shared Folders
- Select shared folders to delete.
- Click on remove
