How can I remove the default shared folders on my NAS?

Note: This article explains how to remove the shared folder, for information on hiding a shared folder, see here.

Important: You can't remove Public and Web shared folders as they are required for system running.


Follow the procedures below to remove Multimedia, Download and homes shared folders:

  1. Login QTS as administrators.

  2. For removing Multimedia and Download, open Control Panel to check Firmware version

    • If firmware version is 5.0.0 or later version

      1. Open App Center
      2. Find Multimedia Console and select Remove

    • If firmware version is 4.4.1 or later version

      1. Find Control Panel > Application > Multimedia Console
      2. Click the toggle on the top right corner of the app to disable Multimedia Services

  3. If you want to remove homes shared folder,

    1. Go to Control Panel > Privilege > Users
    2. Click on Home Folder
    3. Deselect Enable home folders for all users and apply the setting img
  1. Remove the shared folders

    1. Go to Control Panel > Privilege > Shared Folders
    2. Select shared folders to delete.
    3. Click on remove
