Notification Center

Scenario

Notification Center can send email notifications to an SMTP server after the SMTP service is created in Notification Center. If you have created the SMTP service in Notification Center but are still not receiving email notifications, then follow the procedure below.

Procedure

Perform the following steps:

  1. Verify settings on the SMTP server. Some settings on the SMTP server may be preventing Notification Center from sending it emails.
  2. Verify settings for the SMTP service by adding the SMTP service in an email client application, such as Outlook for Windows desktop.
  3. Verify all SMTP server settings are correctly entered in Notification Center
    Tip
Yahoo! SMTP servers require an App Password to be used. Provide the App Password to Notification Center when creating a Yahoo! SMTP service. For details, see How do I get app password of my Yahoo account for setting up SMTP service in Notification Center?
  4. Go to Service Account & Device Pairing and click to send a test email. If the test email fails, then notification center cannot send emails to this SMTP server.

If you successfully sent an email to the SMTP server with another email client application but failed to send a test email in Notification Center, then contact QNAP Customer Service.
