Why can I not upload files with long filenames to encrypted folders?

Encrypted folders have a filename limitation of 140 characters. This limitation is to ensure that encryption can be successfully applied to files and folders. For comparison, the filename restriction for files in unencrypted folders is 255 characters (using ext4).
