Overview

QNAP regularly releases firmware updates to improve system performance, enhance security, and add new features. If your device cannot update firmware automatically or you prefer to update manually, you can download the latest firmware from the QNAP website and install it using the device’s management interface.

Procedure

  1. Download the firmware:
    • Go to the QNAP Download Center.
    • Select your product model and operating system.
    • Download the latest firmware package.
  2. Update the firmware manually:
    • Log in to QTS or QuTS hero as an administrator.
    • Go to Control Panel > System > Firmware Update.
    • Click Browse and select the downloaded firmware file.
    • Click Update System and follow the on-screen instructions.
    • Wait for the update process to complete. The device will restart automatically.

Warning: Do not power off the device or interrupt the power supply during the firmware update process. A power outage or shutdown during the update may cause system malfunction or data loss.

Recommendation: QNAP strongly recommends connecting your device to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) before performing a firmware update. This helps prevent unexpected shutdowns due to power outages and reduces the risk of data loss or system corruption during the update process.
