How can I search by name or photo in QVR Pro Client?

Procedure

This topic explains how to search for recorded events by name or photo in QVR Pro Client. This process operates by sending QVR Face events to QVR Pro for processing.

Before you begin, complete the following tasks:

  • Ensure there is a free QVR Face (Insight, Link or Tiger) license task on your NAS
  • Install and configure a recording and camera instance of QVR Pro or QVR Elite on your NAS
  • Install QVR Pro Client on your desktop
Configuring search using the QNAP Surveillance app

This method explains how to search by name or image using data from the QNAP surveillance app. If you wish to search using metadata from an RTSP camera feed, use the next process instead.

  1. Open QVR Face on NAS.
  2. Create an analytics task.
    1. On the Overview screen, click Create Task.
      The Create Task window opens.
    2. Select From QNAP Surveillance App.
    3. Specify a name and any detection options and then click Next.
    4. Specify connection information to your QNAP surveillance app instance and then click Next.
    5. Select a camera to deploy and then click Next.
    6. Review your setting and click Finish.
      The system adds the analytics task to your QVR Face dashboard.
  3. Create an event rule on the analytics task.
    1. From the QVR Face dashboard, identify the analytics task you just created.
    2. Click Create.
      The Create Event Rule window opens.
  4. Configure the event rule.
    1. Specify an event name.
    2. Enable AI event.
    3. Enable Registered People.
    4. Enable Group, and specify any groups.
    5. Click Apply.
      The system creates the event rule. You can now search for people who are members of the specified groups.
Configuring search using metadata from an RTSP camera feed

This method explains how to search by name or image using metadata from an RTSP camera feed. If you wish to search using data from the QNAP surveillance app, use the previous process instead.

  1. Sign in to QVR Pro.
  2. Open the Metadata Vault.
  3. Go to Data Source List.
  4. Add a data source.
    1. Click Add Data Source.
      The Add Data Source window opens.
    2. Specify a data source name.
    3. Click Apply.
    4. Click Camera Pairing.
      The Camera Pairing window opens.
    5. Select a camera to pair.
    6. Click Apply.
      The Camera Pairing window closes.
    7. Click Finish.
  5. Identify the Metadata URL.
    1. From the Data Source List page, locate the data source you created.
    2. In the Action column, click EditThe Edit Data Source window opens.
    3. Go to the Metadata URL tab.
    4. Note the URL for later use.
    5. Click Apply.
  6. Open QVR Face.
  7. Create an analytics task.
    1. On the Overview screen, click Create Task.
      The Create Task window opens.
    2. Select From RTSP.
    3. Specify a name and any detection options and then click Next.
    4. Specify the RTSP URL and login credentials and then click Next.
    5. Select a camera to deploy and then click Next.
    6. Review your setting and click Finish.
      The system adds the analytics task to your QVR Face dashboard.
  8. Create an event rule on the analytics task.
    1. From the QVR Face dashboard, identify the analytics task you just created.
    2. Click CreateThe Create Event Rule window opens.
  9. Configure the event rule.
    1. Specify an event name.
    2. Enable Event URL and enter the Metadata URL you noted earlier.
    3. Enable Registered People.
    4. Enable Group, and specify any groups.
    5. Click Apply.
      The system creates the event rule. You can now search for people who are members of the specified groups.
Searching for a person with QVR Pro Client

You can search for specific people on video by entering their name, uploading a photo, or using metadata from an RTSP camera feed.

  1. Open QVR Pro Client on your PC.
  2. In the top bar, click the search icon.
    The Search window opens.
  3. Optional: Search using the name of the person.
    1. Go to the Face tab in the search window.
    2. Select Name / Profile Key.
    3. Enter a name registered in QVR Face.
    4. Click Search.
  4. Optional: Search using an uploaded image of the person.
    1. Go to the Face tab in the search window.
    2. Select Image.
    3. Click Upload.
    4. Click Search.
  5. Optional: Search using metadata from an RTSP camera feed.
    1. Go to the Metadata tab in the search window.
    2. Enter a name registered in QVR Face
    3. Click Search.

The system returns any video clips of the person on the right panel.
