Explanation
Lock is a feature on myQNAPcloud Storage that allows users to secure their files by preventing modifications or deletions. Similar to the Object Lock legal hold in AWS S3, locking a file ensures that its content and metadata remain unchanged until manually unlocked. Unlike WORM (Write-Once-Read-Many), which sets a retention period during which files cannot be modified or deleted, Lock does not have an associated retention period and remains in effect until manually removed.
Lock provides users with the ability to lock individual files or multiple files at a time. Once a file is locked, the following operations are restricted: modifying the content, renaming the file, uploading a new version, moving the file to another location, and deleting the file. Users can still view, download, share, or copy locked files to other folders.
