You are receiving frequent alerts in Security Center about unusual file activity. These alerts are often caused by normal operations such as file backups, synchronization, or large-scale file transfers. The default threshold settings are designed to be highly sensitive, which may not suit all usage scenarios. Adjusting these thresholds can help reduce unnecessary notifications without compromising system security.

To better suit your actual usage while maintaining protection, you can adjust the threshold settings in Security Center. Follow the steps below to reduce unnecessary alerts without compromising system security.
Step 1: Log in to your NAS
Open a web browser and log in to your QNAP NAS using an administrator account.
Step 2: Launch Security Center
From the main menu or Control Panel, open Security Center.
Step 3: Go to Unusual File Activity Monitoring
In the left panel, select Unusual File Activity Monitoring. This feature detects suspicious behaviors such as ransomware or mass file modification.
Step 4: Access Threshold Settings
Click the Settings (gear icon) located at the top right of the panel.
A new window will appear displaying current threshold parameters.
Step 5: Adjust the threshold values
You will see parameters such as:
Accessed files per minute
Modified files per minute
Renamed or deleted files per minute
For example:
If your backup process modifies more than 50 files per minute, but the default threshold is 20, increase the value to 100 or 150 to avoid unnecessary alerts.
Make changes based on your usage pattern.
Step 6: Save the settings
Click Apply to save the new threshold values.
