Which applications will have access restrictions when the password option is disabled in Passwordless Login?

Last modified date: 2025-11-28

Applicable Products

QuTS hero h6.0.0 and later

Scenario

In QuTS hero h6.0.0, users can go to Login and Security > Passwordless Login > Available Verification Methods and disable the Password option. This means that the account will no longer accept password-based login and can only be accessed using supported passwordless verification methods, such as QR code, login approval, or passkeys. This setting can enhance account security but may affect login availability for certain applications.

Details

After disabling password login, you can only access the NAS via the applications and services that support passwordless login. These applications will require you to verify your identity using one of available methods (depending on your configuration), such as:

  • QR code
  • Login approval
  • Passkey

Some applications currently support passwordless login. For examples:

  • Web Login
  • Qfile Pro (Android/iOS)
  • Qmanager (Android/iOS)
  • Qsync Client (Windows/macOS)

Some applications and services do not support passwordless login, such as certain third-party tools or Qnotes3 (Android/iOS). They are not accessible when password login is disabled. If you rely on these services, we recommend keeping the password login option enabled.

Troubleshooting

If password login is disabled, and you are unable to use any of the supported verification methods due to issues such as device loss or verification failure, you can try the following options:

Use alternative verification methods

If you have configured other verification methods (such as email verification), you can click Try another way on the login screen to select an alternative method.

Contact your system administrator

If you are unable to resolve the issue on your own, contact your system administrator or IT support team for assistance.

Administrators can go to Control Panel > Users > Edit Account Profile and disable Passwordless Login for your account. This will restore password login access for you.

Use the default administrator account

Press the reset button on the NAS for 3 seconds to enable the default administrator account admin. You can then log in using the device’s Cloud Key as the password. After logging in, do the following:

  • Reconfigure the original account’s password or verification methods
  • Disable the admin account to ensure system security
