Q: Why I cannot create network trunking on NICs from different controllers?

Last modified date: 2022-06-24

Scenario:
I have a QNAP dual-controller NAS (ES1686dc) with QES system. I want to create the network trunking on NICs from different controllers.
When I go to Network >>  Port Trunking >> Add, I see both of Ethernet 3 ports up and I try to select and apply it to create a trunk on those ports.

But the Apply button is enabled only if I select another Ethernet port.

Answer:
In the design of the dual-controller NAS, the network port trunking should be configured on the ports in the same controller instead of crossing different controller. So you need to choose two or more ports in the same controller for the network trunking configuration.
