How to Add a New Disk to an Existing PC Inventory in NetBak PC Agent of Hyper Data Protector (HDP)?

Applicable products
- All NAS models that support Hyper Data Protector (HDP) / NetBak PC Agent
Symptom
You already use HDP to back up one or more disks from a Windows PC to a QNAP NAS. Later, you install a new disk in the same PC and want to include it in the existing backup job without losing backup history.
However, you notice:
- There is no obvious option in NetBak PC Agent to simply “add a disk” to the existing job.
- You do not want to delete the job and start again, because that would mean losing existing backup history and file revisions.
Solution
Please follow the steps below.
- Launch NetBak PC Agent on the Windows PC.
- Click Edit Job for the existing backup job.

- An Edit Backup Job wizard window appears. The new disk is listed, but its checkbox is cleared.

- Select the checkbox to add the new disk to the backup job.

- Click Next and follow the wizard to complete the rest of the settings.
- Click Save to apply the changes.

- Click Backup Now to run the backup immediately with the updated configuration (if needed).

Notes and troubleshooting
- Editing the job will not remove existing backup data for the previously protected disks as long as you do not change the repository or delete the job.
- If the new disk does not appear in the source list:
- Verify that Windows detects the disk correctly (it has a drive letter, is formatted, and is online).
- Restart NetBak PC Agent so it can refresh the list of available disks.
