Last modified date: 2026-01-20

Applicable Products

  • QTS
  • QuTS hero
  • All QNAP NAS models

Overview

The disk locate function allows you to identify a specific physical disk in your NAS by activating its LED indicator. This is helpful when you need to find a particular disk (such as HDD2), especially if disk LEDs are not illuminated under normal conditions.

Procedure

  1. Go to Storage & Snapshots > Storage > Disks/VJBOD > Disks in QTS or QuTS hero.
  2. Select the disk you want to identify.
  3. Click Action > Locate.
  4. The LED indicator for the selected disk will start blinking (usually red) to help you identify its physical location.
    • Note: LED color and behavior may vary depending on your NAS model.
  5. If the disk LED does not blink as expected, please contact QNAP support for further assistance.

Reminder: Do not remove or touch any disks unless instructed. Removing the wrong disk may cause data loss.
