Failed to create new virtual disks or virtual machines on an extended VMware ESXi datastore.

Answer:

Problem:
If a VMware datastore is composed of more than one iSCSI LUN and at least one of the LUNs has a thin-provisioned volume, the VMware datastore will be unable to guarantee successful mapping of newly allocated space. In such a case, you may find that creating new virtual disks or virtual machines will fail.

Solution:
We do not recommend extending VMware ESXi datastores with multiple LUNs, if any of the LUNs have thin-provisioned volumes. When you need to extend VMware ESXi datastores with multiple LUNs, we recommend using thick volumes.
