What is a subscription “grace period”? When to watch out and how to prevent service interruption
Applicable Products
- Subscriptions purchased via the QNAP Software Store
- Project-based paper licenses
Overview
A grace period is a short buffer time provided after a subscription renewal or license verification fails (due to payment issues or network restrictions). Its purpose is to ensure that your QNAP services or licensed features do not stop immediately.
Definition: The grace period is the time window to resolve renewal failures or licensing validation issues.
Length: Typically ranges from a few days to a few weeks depending on the license agreement.
Access state during grace period:
Full access may continue initially.
Services may later degrade to read-only mode, limited sync/API, or allow data retention but block new writes.
If unresolved after the grace period, the service may be suspended.
Solution
To avoid interruptions, update your payment details or resolve billing issues within 7 days of receiving any subscription, billing, or license anomaly notifications.
If you have doubts or are unsure for your subscription, please contact QNAP Technical Support: https://service.qnap.com
Note: The actual grace period length and handling may vary depending on your specific QNAP software/service license agreement.
