Overview

A dedicated and secure access is required by IT managers to access the network infrastructure from remote locations. You can access the MGMT port on the switch to configure the network settings of the switch remotely by utilizing out-of-band (OOB) management.

OOB management supports only web management services using the MGMT port. Services such as NTP and SNMP are not supported. The QSW managed switches use in-band management by default.

To ensure that QSS cannot be accessed by users on other access ports for security reasons, IT can configure the OOB mode in QSS. OOB supports both DHCP and static IP address settings. The default IP address is 169.254.100.101.

Procedure

  1. Log in to QSS.
  2. Go to System > System Settings.
  3. Click IP.
  4. Select Out-of-band (OOB) as the management access.
  5. Under Out-of-band Management select the IP configuration setting.
  6. Click Save.

QSS saves the OOB settings. Users can now access QSS only using the MGMT port.
