Why do I get an 'Access denied' message when trying to open an app?

Symptom

When opening an app from the App Center or Main Menu, a message window may appear informing you that your access is denied, and the app does not open. If this happens, then you do not have permission to open the app. 


Solution

If you are a NAS administrator, you can configure the applications that individual users can access. If you are not an administrator, you need to contact administrator and request him/her to modify application access permissions for your account.

To configure application access for a user, perform the following:

  1. Log on as an administrator.
  2. Open Control Panel.
  3. Go to Privilege > Users.
  4. Locate the user.
  5. Click the Edit Application Privilege icon.
    The Edit Application Privilege window appears.
  6. Select the application in the Grant column.
  7. Click Apply.
    The user can access the applications.
