Details

QuTS hero uses the ZFS file system, which uses Adaptive Replacement Cache (ARC), an algorithm that utilizes as much available RAM as possible to optimize system performance.

The RAM used by the ARC is not included in the Used memory within Resource Monitor, but can be viewed under ZFS ARC.

ZFS uses 50% of the host memory for the Adaptive Replacement Cache (ARC) by default. If you encounter an insufficient memory error when attempting to run an application/service/task on your NAS, then you can configure how much memory is used by the ARC in Storage & Snapshot > Global Settings > Storage > ARC RAM Usage
