What do I do when the message "The app digital signature has expired" is displayed on an app in the App Center?
Applicable Products
- QTS 4.5.0 and later versions
- QTS hero h4.5.0 and later versions
Root Cause
The message "The app digital signature has expired" means that the mentioned application is too old and requires a renewal by updating the application to the latest version.
QNAP uses digital signatures to validate apps created by QNAP or QNAP-trusted publishers. The use of digital signatures prevents the unauthorized tampering of apps that may lead to security risks. If you still see the message after updating to the latest version, this could indicate one of the following situations:
- The application has reached its end of support. In this case, we recommend removing the application if it is not essential to your NAS use.
- The application has not applied a newer digital signature. Contact QNAP support and report this problem.
