Why are VPN clients unable to automatically reconnect to the VPN server?

Only OpenVPN supports re-resolving domain names every time a VPN client reattempts connection to the VPN server.

L2TP, PPTP, and QBelt VPN do not enable VPN clients to automatically reconnect to their servers. These servers do not support re-resolving domain names when automatically reconnecting to the VPN server if you update the server IP address. VPN clients must reconnect to these VPN servers manually in case you have modified the IP address of the VPN server.
