How to sync phone files to a NAS shared folder outside the default private Qsync location?

Last modified date: 2026-08-06

Applicable Products

  • QNAP NAS running QTS or QuTS hero
  • Qsync Central
  • Qfile Pro (Android/iOS)

Scenario

The user wants to sync files from a smartphone folder (like DCIM/Pictures) to a NAS folder but o not want files going into Qsync’s private default location, because it is not convenient for SMB-based file management.

Solution

  1. On NAS, create or select the target shared folder: (e.g.: "Testsync")
    • Control Panel > Privilege > Shared Folders.
    • Enable Sync for this shared folder.
  2. Verify account permissions:
    • Ensure the NAS user used by Qfile Pro has read/write access to the target shared folder.
  3. On phone, configure Qsync paired folder:
    • Open Qfile Pro and connect to the NAS.
    • Go to Transfer > Qsync > Go.
    • Select NAS > Add Paired Folders.
    • Set NAS folder path to the target shared folder.
    • Set device folder path (for example Internal Storage/DCIM or Pictures).
    • Set Sync Method to Two-way.
    • Save and start the sync task.

Verification

  • Files created on phone appear in the selected NAS shared folder.
  • Files created in the NAS shared folder sync back to the paired phone folder (two-way behavior).
  • The same NAS folder is browsable from Windows via SMB.
