QNAP Security Announces Newest Version of VMobile Surveillance Application for Android Mobile Device Users
New Version of VMobile App Offers Support for Android Phone, Easy to Use Controls for Remote Monitoring or Surveillance Video from QNAP VioStor NVR Systems
Taipei, Taiwan, April 7, 2011- QNAP Security, the leading manufacturer of Linux-embedded standalone Network Video Recorders (NVR) announces today a new version of its popular VMobile app supporting Android platforms 1.6, 2.1, and 2.2 following the very successful deployment of the popular VMobile iPhone application. The VMobile app utilizes either 3G/4G cell networks or Wi-Fi and allows users to easily choose QNAP NVR servers to remotely monitor countless surveillance cameras and playback recorded surveillance video, which is especially handy for home or business owners/security personnel who are increasingly on the go.
According to a recent Nielsen survey of 14,000 customers, Nielsen estimates Android market penetration at 29% in the U.S. in March 2011, marking Android a significant and growing force in the market. To meet market demand, QNAP added Android support for the VMobile. The VMobile app allows users to connect and monitor video surveillance feeds of the networked cameras configured on the VioStor NVR servers, which currently support over 1,000 camera models from popular IP surveillance brands. QNAP VioStor users have a choice from multiple display modes such as instant multi-channel display or sequential video display. The app also provides extra image details through easy touch screen controls and gives many end-users who lack IT knowledge the power to protect their homes and businesses.
"Typical mobile viewing depends a lot on the NVR server's ability to efficiently manage and transmit video stream, and results are often not great. QNAP Security created its VMobile application based on extensive development experience from iPhone and Windows PDA VMobile apps for the VioStor NVR servers, ensuring the compatibility, stability, and simplicity for the Android VMobile app," said Andrew Yu, Product Manager from QNAP Security."
Apart from VMobile for Android, all versions of VMobile include the auto install function once it has been downloaded. In addition, even if the Internet environment becomes unstable, users traveling outside can still utilize the snapshot and push alarm notification function to instantly record and assist if certain events occur. In case there was an event, users can check through relevant events via smart search for video data by simply defining the event type or keying in the date and time. The principle design of VMobile allows surveillance system owner and user to easily and instantly get their hands on critical real-time security information.
QNAP's VMobile app for Android, iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch is currently available for free download. The latest firmware version 3.3.2 of VioStor NVR is available for free download on http://www.qnapsecurity.com/download.asp.
