How to stream videos from my computer to DJ2 Live?

DJ2 Live is a live streaming platform on the QNAP NAS. After streaming your videos to DJ2 Live via RTMP (real-time messaging protocol), you can broadcast live programs from the NAS or stream videos to YouTube, Facebook Live, or any other streaming platforms that support RTMP to reach a wider audience. With the storage allocation and access control features of the QNAP NAS, you can easily customize your live streaming to meet different needs.

This tutorial shows how to stream videos from your computer to DJ2 Live.

Installing DJ2 Live

  1. Verify that the QTS version on your NAS is 4.3.0 or later.
  1. Go to App Center.
  2. Install Container Station.
  1. Install DJ2 Console.

Streaming videos to DJ2 Live

Checking the requirements

  1. 1 x Computer: We recommend installing a dedicated graphic card to enhance the performance of video transcoding.
  2. 1 x Camera: For high-resolution video streaming, we recommend using a high-end camera with HDMI outputs and a HDMI capture card.
  3. 1 x Microphone (optional): For high quality audio, we recommend using directional microphones.

Using live streaming applications to manage your live videos

Option 1: Using OBS

  1. Download and install OBS from https://obsproject.com/download
  2. Start OBS.
  3. Add a new video source.
    1. Click “+” below “Source”.
    2. Select “Video Capture Device”.
    3. Select a video device.
    4. Click “OK”.

      Note:
      • You can select any video devices connected to your computer.
      • To change the resolution of your videos, go to “File” > “Settings” > “Video”.
  4. Add an audio source.
    1. Click “+” below “Source”.
    2. Select “Audio Input Capture”.
    3. Select an audio device.
    4. Click “OK”.

      Note:
      • After adding an audio source, you can adjust the volume on the mixer panel.
      • Using two audio inputs at the same time may produce echoes. We do not recommend doing so unless you have such needs.
        The basic video and audio input settings are completed. You can add more special effects to customize your videos. For more information, go to https://obsproject.com/forum/

Option 2: Use XSplit

  1. Download and install XSplit from https://www.xsplit.com/#broadcaster
  2. Open XSplit.
  3. Add a video source.
    1. Click “Add” on the bottom-left corner.
    2. Select “Webcam, capture card, video devices”.
    3. Select a video device.
  4. Add an audio source.
    1. Click next to the volume control.
    2. Select an audio output under “Microphone”.
    3. Click “OK”.

      The basic video and audio input settings are completed. You can add more special effects to customize your videos. For more information, go to https://www.xsplit.com/broadcaster/manual

Streaming videos from your computer to DJ2 Live

Using OBS

  1. Copy the Server URL and Key from DJ2 Console.
    1. Log on to QTS.
    2. Open DJ2 Console.
    3. Click on the top-right corner.
    4. Go to “Settings” > “General”.
    5. Copy the Server URL and Key.
  2. Paste the information to the streaming settings in OBS.
    1. Open OBS.
    2. Go to “File” > “Settings” > ”Stream”
    3. Select ”Custom Streaming Server” in “Stream Type”.
    4. Paste the Server URL and Key.
    5. Click “OK”.
  3. Click “Start Streaming” on the bottom-right corner.

Using XSplit

  1. Copy the Server URL and the Key from DJ2 Console.
    1. Log on to QTS.
    2. Open DJ2 Console.
    3. Click on the top-right corner.
    4. Go to “Settings” > “General”.
    5. Copy the Server URL and Key.
  2. Paste the information to the streaming setting in XSplit.
    1. Open XSplit.
    2. Go to “Outputs” > ”Set up a new output”> ”Custom RTMP”.
    3. Paste the Server URL and Key onto the “RTMP URL” and “Stream Name” fields.
    4. Specify other fields.
    5. Click “OK”.
  3. To start streaming, go to ”Outputs” > ”Custom RTMP”.

You can go back to DJ2 Live to view the streaming screen.

Note: If the screen remains black, click “Refresh” on the top-right corner.
