About QVR Smart Search

QVR Smart Search is an intelligent, accurate and time-saving solution with analytic motion detection for surveillance systems. With QVR Local Display or QVR Pro Client, it allows fast search for specific motion events by date or time without the need to view hundreds of hours of recorded videos across hundreds of cameras.

Getting Started

Purchase and activate a QVR Smart Search license.

For details, see Activating a License.
Install QVR Smart Search on your NAS.

For details, see Installing QVR Smart Search.
Configure QVR Smart Search.

For details, see Configuring QVR Smart Search.
Configure a detection zone.

For details, see Configuring a Detection Zone.

Activating a License

Purchase the QVR Smart Search license at https://software.qnap.com/qvr-smart.html.
Go to License Center.

Note:
License Center must be version 1.6.10 or later.
Click + Activate License.
Sign in with your QNAP ID.
Click Select License.
Select the QVR Smart Search license.
Click Add.
Click Close.

Your QVR Smart Search license is added to My Licenses.

Note:
You can also activate the license in QNAP License Manager at https://license.qnap.com/#/.

Installing QVR Smart Search

Go to App Center, and then click .

A search box appears.
Enter QVR Smart Search.

The QVR Smart Search app appears in the search results.
Click + Install.

Configuring QVR Smart Search

Open QVR Smart Search.
Click Install to install essential components.
Click Authenticate.

The Obtain authentication for QVR Pro window appears.
Specify your username and password, and then click Authenticate.
Click Go.

Configuring a Detection Zone

Open QVR Pro Client.
Log into QVR Pro or QVR Elite.
Select and drag a camera into the view.
Click the camera view you want to configure.
Click .

The Smart Search window appears.
Click and drag a zone or multiple zones in the detection region.

Tip:
You can click (Select All) and (Clear) to better help you make a detection zone.
Specify the starting date and time.

Note:
You can also specify an end time if you need to detect for more than 24 hours. The average analyzation time is 2 minutes per hour footage.
Select a duration.
Select sensitivity.

Note:
QNAP suggests choosing Medium.
Select skipped frames.

Note:
QNAP suggests choosing None.
Click Start.

Using Playback

Open QVR Pro Client.
Log into QVR Pro or QVR Elite.

Select an action.

Action	Description
Playback a Recording	Click to playback a video recording. Note: The grids in the detected zone will turn red when an event is detected. The timeline runs from the first event in the recording highlighted in yellow.
Delete a Task	Click to remove a task.
Check Configurations	Click to view configurations.
Zoom In	Click to spread each time frame over the timeline.
Zoom Out	Click to adjust the timeline.
Go to Next Event	Click to go to the next event highlighted in yellow.
Go to Previous Event	Click to go to the previous event highlighted in yellow.
