How to Create Tasks and Profiles in QVR Face
About QVR Face
QVR Face is a QTS application that analyzes camera streams and videos for facial recognition, delivering real-time analytics results and providing instant event notifications. You can create profiles for people detected in video streams and generate analytics reports to better monitor attendance and control access within your organization.
Task Creation
Creating a Live Analytics Task for an RTSP Stream
You can create live analytics tasks to detect people appearing in RTSP streams.
- Go to Live Analytics Tasks
- Click Add Video Stream.
Tip:For creating subsequent tasks, click Create Task on the top-right corner.
The Create Task window appears.
- Select From RTSP.
- Specify the task name and the description.
- Specify the RTSP URL and login credentials.
- Click Finish.
QVR Face creates the live analytics task for the specified RTSP stream.
Profile Creation
Creating Profiles for Organization Members
You can upload photos to create profiles for the members of your organization or your family.
To increase the accuracy of facial recognition, ensure the following.

Uploaded photos are taken from various angles in which the person looks directly at the camera and 20 degrees up, down, to the left, and to the right.

Facial landmarks (shown as green dots) match the salient facial features of each person, such as eyes, nose, and lips.
- Click Create Profile.
The Create Profile window appears.
- Specify the following information.

Profile key
Specify a unique profile key to identify this person.
Tip:To avoid repetition, QNAP recommends using the ID number or the phone number of the person as the profile key.
Name
Specify a name for the person.
Description
Specify a description for the person.
Group
Select a group for the person.
Tip:To create more groups, go to Groups and click Create Group.

. - Select one of the following sources to upload photos.
Source
Description
Live analytics task
Take and select photos from a live analytics task.
Local folder
Select photos from a local folder on your computer.
NAS
Select photos from a shared folder on the NAS.
Webcam
Take and select photos from a webcam on your computer.
Unknown face
Select photos from unknown people in the QVR Face database.
Note:You can upload a maximum of 10 photos for each profile.
Creating Profiles for Detected Unknown People
QVR Face assigns numbers to unknown people detected in streams or videos. You can create profiles for unknown people in the database.
- Go to People.
- Click Register this person.
The Create Profile window appears.
Tip:If this detected face belongs to a registered person, you can click
and select Add to Profile to add this face to the existing profile. - Specify the following information.

Generating an Analytics Report
You can generate a live analytics report to view the results of selected tasks and the information of selected profiles.
- Go to Report.
- Click Search.
QVR Face generates an analytics report according to the specified criteria. You can select a profile to view the details and the further analysis of this person.
