Why can’t I access a mapped network drive via SMB when Web Server IIS is enabled on Windows Server?

After enabling Web Server IIS on Windows Server, when configuring a mapped drive connection in IIS Manager, for the physical path you must specify the UNC path of the mapped drive (e.g., “\myQNAP\share\”), not the Windows Server location of the mapped drive (e.g., “Z:\”).If you specify the Windows Server location of the mapped drive as the IIS physical path, you will block access to SMB shared folders and see an authorization failure message.
