“We now have a convenient way to securely back up our digital pictures and USB drives, and I was also impressed by the ease of installation & setup, and the wealth of support information available on the QNAP support forum,” - Jean Rolfe, Executive Director of Green Corridor.
“QNAP has provided Green Corridor with a very reliable, easy to use and idiot proof means of ensuring safe network access, easy back up facilities and something that can grow with the business – we are really delighted with the investment,” - Jean
Introduction
Green Corridor, a not-for-profit charitable organization based just outside London, provides bespoke education and training programs to disadvantaged and at-risk 14–25 year old youth within London.
The specialized programs offered by Green Corridor focus on creating "Environments that work", giving these young people key skills in the emerging green technology sector including horticulture, environmental engagement, and conservation that can help unlock their human potential and build the necessary self-confidence to overcome adversity and join the workforce.
Challenges/Business Needs
Green Corridor is largely a volunteer-run organization, having 4 full-time staffs and 30 volunteers, all of whom work remotely from home offices. Green Corridor needed a secure, reliable, and easy-to-use central storage and sharing solution for documents and digital pictures (and videos soon) of the young people; documenting performance of their work and for collaborative efforts by the volunteers in many places around the city. Being a small non-profit organization, Green Corridor needed a solution that was economical to acquire, work with a wide range of computing devices used by the volunteers, and provide a framework to expand as the needs of the organization evolve.
Benefits
User-friendly storage centre
Green Corridor is a small organization without in-house IT support. The front LCD, LED display, and alarm buzzer of the TS-419P gives real-time information and reassures users all are working in the simplest and most obvious way that everyone can manage the system status without IT knowledge. In addition, the USB one touch backup button enormously simplifies the procedure of backing up the data in the staffs' and volunteers' cameras. More importantly, all the photographs are stored in a centralized storage for joyful sharing.
Web File Manager for accessing files with ease
The principal benefit of the TS-419P is that it provides a remotely accessible centralized storage and sharing solution, allowing the Green Corridor staff and volunteers to upload and download digital images and key documents such as program files from wherever they are. Each user has their own user account with individual access right for security. With Web File Manager of QNAP NAS, all the users can access the files at home with ease, which ensures that all information the staff use is current and correct.
