The data storage capacity is becoming a big concern, as well for the users as for the companies, and in both cases it does not only matters the quantity of data that a NAS can store, but how it manages the access and protection of the information. The TS-109 Pro II Turbo NAS de QNAP is a mini server that can support SATA disks in an aluminum case that makes the NAS looks resistent and solid. An interesting characteristic is its storage extension capacity (and also the Q-RAID1 functionality) through the USB and eSATA ports which enable to connect it with other external storage devices. Likewise, it can be used as a Web Server, Multimedia File Server compatible with Itunes, Bitorrent Server and Surveillance Station Server to control up to 2 IP Cameras.
- Elegant design
- Innovative and rich functions
- Energy saving
It has been a good experience testing this NAS server, and it ran better then I expected. There has been unlimited posibilities in setting it up, and I have not tried all the functions it has to offer. But there are loads of stuff to play with and adjust. I am also surprised that it is guilt on the FreeNAS.org system, which runs smoothly. One has the opportunity to add additional add-ons, and I could keep on writing forever, about the various options you have, but I better stick to the subject. It is a thumbs up from me to this product.
QNAP has the fastest NAS we have tested to date with the TS-509 Pro. The feature set goes above and beyond what even we could have expected and will provide the user with incomparable value.

The device loses in terms of pricing to a PC of a similar configuration. The only its advantage is a compact design and simple administration.

Overall, this is an excellent showing from QNAP. In as little as one afternoon, it is possible to set up a network surveillance system that can be monitored from any computer with an internet connection. Video quality from the included cameras is impressive and additional cameras can be easily added to the system. Versatility is also a strong suit - cameras can use a wired or wireless connection, recording can take place on any day and time you wish, and external drives can be attached for backup or to increase storage capacity.

Definitely not list sexiest feature. But an essential component in the digital Hemmer. Qnap has made this year's best NAS.
A Nas is not the digital home most obvious product, but completely indispensable for anyone who wants to keep its media collection both safe, spacious and environmentally friendly. The high list placement is our tribute to all the faithful, unsung backup rescuers out there. Qnaps WHOPPER have two counter seats plus usb and every feature you may need, including dlna-certification and the torrent client.
QNAP pleases us with its passive cooling. Probably, other vendors allow turning off the fan without damaging the system, but it's going to be an invasion into the design, while QNAP takes the responsibility. Another positive factor about QNAP is its outstanding feature set. If you are mad about site-building, CMS Joomla together with PHP/MySQL is right for you.
QNAP TS-409 Pro is indeed a good, feature-rich and high-performance device. If QNAP’s trump card (QPKG is no doubt a promising platform) gained enough momentum and there were various packets for its NASes for all cases, it would balanced the high price. One of the real motivation to buy the QNAP TS-409 Pro is the increased concern about data safety (RAID6)
Roundup of backup utilities. QBack outdoes the competitors only in the automation features: it can automatically start copying when the drive is connected to a PC or when pressing the One Touch Backup button. Actually, we should call it the file sync utility, not the backup one, because its capabilities are pretty poor while the price is quite high. Qback adventages: excellent automation: starts up when the drive is connected, schedule backup, One Touch Backup button, a password-protected partition can be created, access to files from an explorer or any other file manager.
