I don't say this about products often, but I like the QNAP TS-209 Pro. And I feel it embodies what a product released from a company should be. With regular upgrades via firmware, a website dedicated to educating and helping users with their products, to mention a product itself that couldn't be easier to set-up and use. The TS-209 Pro is a solid choice when it comes to NAS devices.

I have been very positive about QNAPs previous products. Considering the TS409 Pro is near identical to the previous models I used I focused mainly on the changes in this review. Everything I liked before is still there and still works perfectly. The added value comes from the extra disks and RAID levels supported. And when I say RAID I'm not talking about a simple onboard controller, the QNAP TS-409 Pro surprised me with RAID 6 (although slightly pointless with only 4 disks) and features like online expansion and migration. Such functionality is usually only found on advanced controllers you'd find in high end servers.

Final Score: 9.5 (Excellent) out of 10 paws and the prestigious Bjorn3D Golden Bear Award!

For my own introduction to Qnap, they have sent the TS-409 pro. It is a 4 bay NAS, with all those basics I've just mentioned.  The guts of it are powered by a 500MHZ CPU, with 256MB of ram, and 8MB of flash memory for the operating system. 500 Mhz might not seem like a lot these days, but the low power usage, optimized design is more than enough when you pair it up with a custom light Linux installation.

It is difficult to believe that such a small device can bring so many functionalities and services.Any person can build his own webpage for personal or business purposes, use FTP with controlled access cuota, MySQL Database Support, Printer Server, External USB Backup and RAID. The access to the network is quick from a workgroup or domain name. A great DynDNS support to host a Web address for the users that have dynamic IP Internet Connection. Fast, efficient and complete; it is a full package.

QNAP TS-109 Pro targets on SOHO market and show a wide range of features and unique performance among devices in this class. Here's the list of the most attractive features: FTP, Backup, Web, Print, MySQL and iTunes servers. The most expected feature -- Download station, which allows downloads of BitTorrent. It has a few options, but very comfortable to use.
There's also a very surprising feature – NTFS support (because TS-109 works under Linux OS). We attach external NTFS disk to Turbo Station and have possibilities to watch all films on this disk without download. QNAP proposes a very useful device. And we suppose, that more and more users would shift their storage needs into TS-109.

Since the first time we looked at the TS-109 we knew we would like it. The QNAP TS-409 Turbo NAS is a great data storage/backup unit. It offers excellent features which can be easily and quickly configured via an easy to use web-based GUI. It's ideal for any SOHO or Home user. Having said that, the QNAP TS-409 is one of the best NAS unit we've tested in our labs so far.

QNAP TS-209 has all the features that are needed for a NAS and even more. The whole product is light and easy to use. Some competitors should learn how to do the same. As a result, this NAS is a perfect home server.This test is a comparative file of all NAS in which the TS-209is the winner (best product out of 7 models) and the TS-100 is rewarded due to its "value for money".

QNAP TS-100 is a functional and easy to manage server. It's a good NAS which works well for home user. With stylish silver/ white aluminum housing, noise-free (Silent PC) design, easy installation, user-friendly user interface, and complete server feature sets, you can easily build up a perfect multimedia storage center for backing up and sharing multimedia files with your friends and family.

If flexibility and affordability are your top priorities, the TS-409 makes a compelling purchase especially considering its wealth of uses. Whether you just require a basic file server, a backup solution or one that handles iTunes libraries, QNAP's latest is a definite tick in the value box and a great performer to boot.

QNAP TS-109 should not be called network storage. It is a very efficient home server. Honestly speaking I cannot think of any function this device does not have as a multimedia home server or a small office server (SOHO).
The final assessment is very good. There is nothing I could not like. The truth is that the looks of additional programs like QGet could be improved but it is just an addition to a greater whole. I was to mention lack of support in a Polish language but we have been informed by the distributor that the new software is entirely in Polish.

QNAP TS-209 is rich and solid: many astonishing functions for this NAS, very good performance and a solid architecture: this NAS is logically the winner. Simpler settings would have been better.

QNAP TS-209 Pro offers every function what you can consider. At the top end of the market, QNAP and Synology are fighting for the first place. QNAP is our test winner because of better performance and function and it is much quieter.

The QNAP TS-409 Pro is yet another great progression for the Turbo Station NAS series. Retaining all the better aspects of its predecessors, and adding on even more great features, the TS-409 Pro is more than enough for any small to mid range user.

As it stands, the QNAP TS-409 Pro's combination of extremely well-designed software, an amazing feature set and decent performance adds up to a very good NAS. If you are in the market for a 4 bay NAS, this NAS should be at the top of your list. It really does offer an amazing bang for your buck that you are unlikely to find anywhere else in this price range. For this reason the Qnap TS-409 Pro Turbo is great example of what a Hardware Canucks DAMN GOOD Award winner should be.
